Diets don't really work because they do not address the root of the problem. They are only a temporary solution.
They exist in order to make people money. You may follow a diet yet the person who created the diet knows absolutely nothing about YOUR body.
So what do I believe is the secret to fat loss?
It is very simple:
EAT WHAT YOU WANT, WHEN YOU WANT, FOR THE RIGHT REASONS.
Many people eat for emotional reasons. This is why a vast majority of people have a relatively high percentage of fat.
When these people were children, they ate when they were hungry and stopped eating when they were full. Due to influences from parents and society etc it became a habit for them to eat at certain times and to finish meals etc, even though their hunger had been satisfied prior to the meal being finished. Even at school one has to eat lunch at a specific time, whether one is hungry at that time or not. Everyday at school, lunchtime is at the same time. Yet somedays one does more physical activity than on other days and the times when food is really required is rarely constant. I believe it is wrong that one is forced to eat at the same time everyday. This becomes habit and we continue to do the same throughout our lives.
People also eat because they feel down or want to cry or they're stressed or want to talk to someone and for many other reasons, instead of eating for the natural purpose - satisfy hunger and nourish the body.
Many people are 'hungry' for something other than food and fail to recognise the difference. Eating cannot satisfy anything else that one may be needy for. It can satisfy stomach hunger but no other hunger. You feel better after eating chocolate because you were upset? Maybe, but only temporarily.
If you eat in order to nourish the body and satisfy hunger you can eat what you want, when you want.
Eat what you enjoy and enjoy what you eat. If you want a mars bar, eat a mars bar and enjoy it and feel good about it.
This can take time to achieve, like any habit that you want to break, but once you're there again (you were there when you were a child), it's natural, food tastes good and is enjoyable and the last thing you worry about is how much you weigh, how much fat you have or what you eat.
Sometimes your body wants a lot of food and sometimes it wants very little. It is most unlikely that your body wants food every day at the same times continually, yet people eat breakfast at say 7:00am, lunch at say 1:00pm and dinner at say 7:00pm with snacks in between every single day. Perhaps their bodies require this sometimes but not every day. People do not consider whether they are hungry before they eat.
Many people believe there are 'bad' foods and 'good' foods. Such people may think that chips, chocolates, cakes, sweets, pastries etc are bad foods. These same people may think that fruits, vegetables, pasta, cereal etc are good foods. This is very much to do with society and how people have been manipulated.
Ask yourself what you consider a bad food. Do you consider chocolate, cakes, ice creams etc as bad food? How did you get to think of these as bad foods? Because they are relatively high in calories?
That does not make a food a 'bad' food. It is my opinion that people should distinguish between foods that can do harm, due to the chemicals added etc, and foods that they perceive as bad because that is what society or peers or parents have said because they are high in calories.
There are no 'bad' foods unless they contain harmful chemicals as by definition food nourishes. It is human fuel that we prepare in such a way so that we not only get nourished but may also enjoy it more too.
Many people don't like to hear what is written on this page. That doesn't matter. What matters is that you question yourself when you think you want to eat and really understand the reason why you think you want to eat. Is it because you are bored? Through habit? Are you upset? Is it replacing something? You may need to think very carefully because it is all too easy to answer 'no' to such questions.
If you are serious about losing excess fat and want the most effiecient and effective way to gain a flat and toned stomach, ask me. You will need to write down everything you consume and any physical activity for 7 days. This will include water drank and walking to work etc etc.
